Le Bon Pasteur Wine Dinner
*Chateau Le Bon Pasteur*

"What a great occasion to evaluate the ageability of Le Bon Pasteur, as well as the evolution of Michel Rolland's winemaking philosophy. 1979, 1988 and 1999 will be shipped directly Ex Chateau in magnum format!” – WineWorld Team

On the special night of May 3rd, we hosted Chateau Le Bon Pasteur wine dinner at AnOther Place, exploring 5 vintages of this renowned Pomerol property during the tenure of Michel Rolland, who managed the winery from 1978 to 2013 (when he sold the winery to Goldin Group). Vintage 1988 ended up being everybody’s favourite in the entire evening, closely followed by 1999 and 1979. Vintage 2007 was definitely the best in terms of readiness to drink in the younger flight.

The 7-hectare Le Bon Pasteur situates in northeastern Pomerol, with L`Evangile and Gazin being its neighbours. Today, the vines have all reached an average age of 40 years old and the vineyard is home to 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. The Rolland method is applied throughout the viticultural and vinification process - yield is stringently managed, harvest is only by hand and only takes place when the berries reach optimal ripeness. Since 1978 Rolland has been at the forefront of directing the technical team of Le Bon Pasteur - and has continued to lead the team after 2013 sale.
