Paolo Scavino Barolo Cannubi 2009
Item Code: IL1-2041E09B
Cannubi is probably the most historical vineyard of the all Barolo region, in Barolo village. We vinify this cru from 1985 and this is one of the two oldest vineyards of ours planted in 1946 on the central crest of Cannubi hill.
Low yield ofthis vineyard is due to a special combination of natural factors one of which is the old age of the vines assuring a unique quality.
Here it comes the concentration and richness of this Barolo where the charm of Nebbiolo is fully expressed. Harmonious and very fine texture.
Wine Advocate 89: "The celebrated Cannubi cru showed uneven results in 2009. The 2009 Barolo Cannubi definitely reflects the strong summer sunshine during that year. Slightly overripe tones of raspberry and strawberry emerge from the glass. Once they blow off, the wine reveals nuanced tones of licorice, dark fruit, anisette and dried mint. There’s a touch of softness on the close that makes the wine appealing now. This Barolo is suitable for near-term drinking."
Wine Spectator 94: "A firmly structured red, featuring cherry, floral, leather, bouillon and underbrush flavors. A tar note creeps in as this gets denser and more powerful on the finish. Balanced toward the tannins for now, so be patient. Best from 2016 through 2026. 180 cases imported."
James Suckling 96: "Bright and aromatic with flowers, dark berries and hints of rose stems. Full body with very fine tannins that are polished and silky. The finish lasts for minutes. An ethereal, beautiful wine. Try in 2015."
