Item No. FR1-1227C11B
Geographic situation :
The vineyard producing Château Cantelaudette stretches out over the plateaux overlooking the Dordogne, west of the town of Libourne. An exceptionally sunny outlook and the influence of the nearby Dordogne river mean that the micro-climate here is very mild, and that the vines grow and ripen evenly. The gravelly subsoil provides good drainage when it rainsand a cool soil in summer.

Area and Production:
 20 ha   –  125 000 bottles

Culture :
All the operations in green have a major importance for a good aeration of the fruit bearing zone and to reach an optimal maturity.
- clearing of the shoots to avoid the heaps of vegetation
- Elimination of the clusters having a delay of maturity at the beginning of the ripening period.

Wine making :
Harvested in optimal maturity, the clusters are scratched to reduce the astringent tastes. Grapes are then sorted out on vibrating table. During the fermentation with temperatures checked at 28 °, we make daily reassemblies. We alternate traditional reassembly in the air and in the nitrogen, this last one allows to work well the hat of marc. In density 1040, we proceed to the load treading of every tank. After alcoholic fermentation and during the maceration, we make reassemblies shielded from the air. During the malolactic fermentations, the wine is maintained in 20 ° in inox controlled stainless vats. We make stirrings of dregs daily to give some fat and the volume. Then we take away from the air, it is important to oxygenate well the wine in this time, the first come colds, he is going to breathe and to get rid of any reduction. The maturing is about 80 % from French oak barrels with grain the most delicated during 8 to 12 months.

Tasting’s notes of oenologist :
Beautiful deep purple-red colour; bouquet of red fruit (raspberries, redcurrants etc.). Subtle notes of vanilla from the wood blend very harmoniously with copious fruit - the tannins are there to bring everything together with finesse and give the wine a silky smoothness. A pleasure to drink now, it is sure to evolve and continue to be enjoyable for at least another eight years. The smoothness and power of this wine make it pleasant as an aperitif, an accompaniment to red meat, and a wide variety of other dishes. Serve between 15 and 17°C.
