Thanks to its harmonious depth, the Charles Heidsieck Rose vintage 1999 is one of the most awarded vintage reoses in the world.
Appearance: The tint is a pearly pink, the effervescence fine and joyous.
Aroma: A discreet first impression of peony, wild rose and forest undergrowth, followed by fruity hints of redcurrant, candied cherry and pomegranate with softer hints of strawberry jam giving way to spicier touches of cinnamon.
Palate: An ample and velvety wine with a touch of romanticism. The softness of redcurrants, morello cherries and pomegranate joins with more delicate notes of violet and liquorice. A fine balance evolving toward brown sugar.
Wine Advocate 87: "The 1999 Brut Rose presents an attractive core of sweet pomegranate, candied cherries, sweet spices and flowers in an accessible, medium-bodied style. This is Lot 071206 11979, disgorged in December, 2007. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2012."
Wine Spectator 94: "Rich and toasty in aroma, this seamless rosé is aging gracefully, offering a silky mousse and vibrant acidity that structures the grilled hazelnut, fleur de sel, raspberry coulis, spiced plum and spun honey flavors. A delicious Champagne. Drink now through 2024."
