Blanc de Blancs Vintage is a pure, taut, fine, and bright wine. Its contrasting tones range from an intense, chiselled acidity to the supple lightness of notes of fresh hazelnuts, almonds, and white flowers with accents of acacia, broom, and honeysuckle.
100% Chardonnay, the Blanc de Blancs Vintage cuvée is generally matured on lees for five years and left for a minimum of 6 months after dégorgement (disgorging) to attain perfect maturity.
Robert Parker 91: "Featuring a significant barrel-aged component and lower than usual CO2 pressure by design, the Roederer 2007 Brut Blanc de Blancs is striking in its infectious juiciness and insistent lemon-lime citricity consistent with precisely the sense of subtle textural creaminess and expansiveness that bottling at lower-than-usual pressure was indeed intended to convey. There is also a delightful sense of levity, which along with apple-y crispness; a garland of honeysuckle; metaphorically cooling allusions to mint, coriander and thyme; as well as a sort of cantus firmus of wet stone, adds up to a rather Riesling-like Chardonnay. And given the exuberance and cut on hand here, the dosage of something close to ten grams is entirely supportive. This seems a cuvee that makes the most – in terms of levity and vivacity – of the modest ripeness conveyed by its (perhaps unjustly) unsung vintage. It’s possible that this will gain depth of flavor over the next year or two, but don’t miss out on how it’s showing today!"
