Chateau La Grande Metairie Blanc 2013, France Entre-Deux-Mers

The vineyard is located in Entre-Deux-Mers, between the Garonne and the Dordogne.  The Buffeteau family has now been farming this estate for three generations and over the last ten years has updated their winery with modern equipment so that their wines can showcase the special characteristics (terroir) of their land.  Always one of the best values in white Bordeaux, this crisp, aromatic white gives so much, and costs so little.

Dr Loosen Red Slate Riesling Dry 2012, Germany Mosel

The wines of 2012 are characterized by a stunning purity of  fruit and a density of flavor that gives each wine a very clear expression of its terroir. The Red Slate has a complex aroma of fruit and herbs, with medium body and a long, bright finish

Chateau Ste. Michelle Canoe Ridge Chardonnay 2008, USA Columbia Valley, RP 90

RP 90: "The 2008 Chardonnay Canoe Ridge Estate was partially fermented with native yeasts in 50% new French oak. It was aged in barrel for 10 months sur lie with stirring and went through full malolactic. Medium gold-colored, it gives up an attractive bouquet of buttered popcorn, minerals, poached pear, lemon zest, and baking spices. Smooth textured, mouth-filling, and impeccably balanced, this Chardonnay over-delivers for its modest price. "

Churton Marlborough Pinot Noir 2009, New Zealand Marlborough, RP 91+

RP 91+: "Aged 14 months in 100% French oak barrels, 18% new, the 2009 Pinot Noir has a medium ruby-purple color and expressive notes of black cherries, black raspberries and mulberries over allspice, cinnamon stick and milk chocolate. Full bodied with a medium level of finely grained tannins, it has a generous amount of berry and spice flavors in the mouth nicely offset by crisp acid. It finishes long with lingering baking spice and mulberry notes. Drinking now, it should cellar to 2016+. "

Chateau Cru Cantemerle Grande Reserve 2010, France Bordeaux Superieur

Aromas of black fruits, a touch of spicy nutmeg and a hint of mushrooms. Pleasant on the palate of black plum with good freshness. Average structure and a lovely finish.

Leeuwin Estate Siblings Shiraz 2010, Australia Margaret River, JH 89

Dark Mulberry with purple hue.

Perfumed and fragrant nose, with briary notes and ripe red currants and black cherries. Combined layers of Turkish Delight, lavender, violets, cassia and cedar offer depth and complexity. A constant thread of freshly ground black pepper, highlights the excellence of the vintage.

Lively, balanced and well structured, the palate offers a myriad of sweet cherries, boysenberries and blood plums with great purity. Subtle velvet-like textures with integrated oak-derived char and smoke formulate the basis of the mid palate. Given the flesh, the palate exhibits a finely spiced and mineral finish with seamless tannins.

"Bright mid-garnet; the bouquet offers spicy red fruits, with a little sage for complexity; the palate is medium-bodied with fresh gravelly tannins a feature."
