90 Plus Dinner

90 Plus Wine Dinner
Leeuwin Art Series Riesling 2006
Light pale straw in color.  Minerals, lemon, and faint jasmine on the nose, with ripe citrus and hints of sugar on the palate. An enjoyable wine with the appetizers.
Erath Dundee Hill Pinot Noir 2006
Earthy upfront, this wine opens up beautifully with an attractive fragrance of raspberries and flowers. Silky and delicate body with a long lingering finish. A gorgeous pinot noir!
La Braccesca Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2004
A dramatic change from the last glass, with dark fruits and mocha on the nose.  Well-structured, lively, with a slightly acidic finish.
Feudi di San Gregoria Taurasi 2004
An intense and dynamic bouquet with petals of flowers, chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, and cherries.  Simply delicious with round tannins, integrated structure, and a good finish. Many of you may be familiar with Feudi di San Gregoria, it is a prestigious wine estate located in Campania. History of vinification in the region dates back to 590 AD.  Taurasi is known as “Barolo of the South” – made from 100% Aglianico grape, aged 18 months in new oak barriques. In brief, this is a must-try bottle!
Chateau Pipeau 2000
An intensive composition with notes of blackberry, licorice, chocolate, coffee beans, vanilla, and smoke.  Well-structured and tannic. This wine can still age for many years.

Summary

It was a cozy, intimate evening, with all of us fitted around one giant table. We had a diverse crowd of guests, ranging from doctor to jewelry designer. The favorite of the nights also differed – some fell in love with Erath’s Pinot Noir, some preferred the tougher body and fiery temper of Pipeau, and some were enchanted by Taurasi’s enticing bouquet…
