Sassicaia 2003
Workshop is designed to achieve the following:
i) Gain a deeper understanding of the Italian key wine regions;
ii) Explore local Italian grapes;
iii) Experience which wines go well with what type of dishes

SIX Wines will be paired with the 5 -course dinner.  We will start off with a white Soave Classico DOC, 5 reds will be served over dinner:

Sassicaia 2003
Since the late 1960s, Sassicaia has represented a standard of production that is without compromise, especially Sassicaia 2003 which is an outstanding effort for the vintage. Sassicaia is a unique interpretation of the Cabernet variety, a wine of great breadth, complexity and longevity.

"Ample, sweet and expansive, the 2003 Sassicaia offers generous notes of sweet dark fruit intermingled with notes of spices, herbs, earthiness and smoke in a full-bodied, opulent expression of this wine. It is an outstanding effort for the vintage. Some cellaring is suggested although with air this wine is drinking beautifully right now." -- Robert Parker 93 pts.

Mauro Veglio Barolo Vigneto Arborina DOCG 2004
"Veglio’s 2004 Barolo Arborina offers a quintessential expression of one of La Morra’s best-known vineyards thanks in large part to a restrained use of oak that was missing in previous vintages. Flowers, spices, mint and perfumed red fruit flow from this  of Arborina. This wine of remarkable beauty and precision is a superb effort from Mauro Veglio."  --  Robert Parker 93 pts.

Antinori Marchesi Chianti Classico Riserva 2004
"Antinori’s flagship Chianti, the 2004 Chianti Classico Riserva Marchesi Antinori, reveals greater depth, vibrancy and freshness. Ripe black cherries, new leather, menthol, smoke and wild herbs flow from this sweet, layered Chianti. The wine is approachable today, but also has the tannic backbone and stuffing to insure another decade or so of very fine drinking. It spent 14 months in small French oak barrels prior to being bottled." -- Robert Parker 91 pts.

Tormaresca Bocca di Lupo Castel Del Monte DOC 2004
"The estate’s 2004 Agliancio Bocca di Lupa is a deep, dark beauty. This rich, weighty wine reveals generous dark fruit and sweet toasted oak on a taut, structured frame with outstanding persistence. It remains tight, backward and in need of at least another year of cellaring but it offers notable detail that only needs time to emerge."  -- Robert Parker 91 pts.

Masi Costasera Amarone 2006
The slopes of Costasera enjoys a long day with just the right amount of sunshine, perfect for producing a high-quality Amarone.

The Masi Costasera Amarone is approachable even when young.   Fruit-forward, with preserved cherries, mocha, dried plums, and soft tannins.  Good structure on the palate with a velvety finish.  This is a wine that will age beautifully and gain more complexity.
