Favorites of the Night?
With over 80 attendants, it is only natural that we have many favorites of the nights. Many attendants praised Antinori’s Marchesi Chianti Classico Riserva 2004, one described it as the best Chianti he has tasted.
The 2004 Taurasi from Feudi di San Gregorio is another favorite. Made from the Aglianico grape, it is known as the “barolo of the south” in terms of quality and body. Prunotto’s Barbaresco got many repeated pourings. Hentley Farm Shiraz and Erath Dundee Hill Pinot Noir were also very well received.
Janasse Terre d’Argile is the bottle with a conflict – there are those who adore it and there are those who are not too impressed.
As for whites, the 2008 Kim Crawford was an instant hit – fresh, crispy, refreshing and hard to resist. Many found Feudi di San Gregorio’s Falanghina Sannio 2007 fascinating, with unusual notes of banana and tropical fruit.
In terms of speed of depletion, each bottle of Chateau Kirwan, Calon Segur, Sociando Mallet and Leeuwin Estate are all depleted within 30 minutes of serving.
Overall, a fun night with many glasses of wine!
