RP 90: "The 2013 Baga Espumante Bruto Rosé Método Antigo is a sparkler coming in at 12.5% alcohol. It was vinified from free-run juice picked the first week of September 2013--before the rains that plagued the harvest later in the month. This seems like a pretty nice mouthful on opening, with fine fruit and a reasonably crisp finish. It is not particularly intense, but it seems to fill the mouth. It gets better, though, as it airs and warms, showing again why I like Baga as a base for sparklers. It develops an earthy nuance and some complexity on the finish. Despite its low price point and easy feel, there is a bit more than usual going on here. If there isn't a lot of power, it finishes with a blast of tasty fruit--evidently, the point of Pato's fermentation experiments. It is well worth leaning up a bit on this. It should make everyone happy, from casual drinkers to wine snobs. Note: this is vintage-dated and technically without the Bairrada designation (as is the case for all but Pato's Vinha Formal sparklers), but all the grapes are from Pato's Bairrada vineyards. It may last a bit longer than I think, but let's be conservative just now. There were 6,300 bottles produced"
